Torbal ET-1 Top Loading Balance
The TORBAL ET-1 top-loading balance is the only 160g capacity balance that gives you 1 miligram accuracy, complete digital display without optics or verniers, electronic null readout that prevents reading errors and variable tare up to 40g.
Simplified weighing to 1 mg
Whether you are making a sample weighing or weighing unknowns, the TORBAL ET-1 presents new standards in reading ease, accuracy and reproducibility. With the TORBAL ET-1 you can quickly and easily determine unknown weights to 1 mg without using a vernier readout or micrometer or estimating.
All that operator has to do is keep his eye on the null indicator and rotate the weight control knobs until the needle of the null indicator is at zero. Then, he read the weight directly to 1mg from the digital display.
Sample weighing too is simple and rapid. The desired sample weight is set on the digital readout and material added to the weighing pan until the null indicator reads zero.
Unaffected by sensitivity changes
The accuracy of the ET-1 is not effected by sensitivity changes resulting from temperature or humidity variations, foreign matter, or wear.
Temperature or humidity changes which can cause sensitivity changes in knife-edge optical balances do not effect the ET-1 because of the ET-1’s electronic null readout feature.
Here’s how to check it out: Dial in 1 milligram of weight change with the weight control knob. This amount of change is equal to the smallest unit on the digital display. As long as this much change produces a clearly perceptible change in position of the null meter needle, changes in the balance’s sensitivity will not affect the accuracy of weighing.
Foreign matter and wear can not cause sensitivity changes in the ET-1 because it has no knife-edges or pivots to accumulate dust or other foreign material. The ET-1 operates on the friction-free torsion principle.
Dial-in variable tare
Maximum tare with the ET-1 is 200g. Eight to 10 grams of infinitely variable tare can be dialed into the TORBAL ET-1, merely by rotating the tare control knob on the left side of the cabinet. Up to 30 additional grams of tare are available by preloading the balance’s second pan. And by use of the built-in weight set, an additional 159.9 g of tare are available.
Rugged, sturdy construction
The Torsion principle provides an extremely rugged balance. In the Torsion design the balance contains no knife edges or friction pivots. This means that the balance does not have to be arrested when objects are put on or taken off the pan. Since no part of the weighing mechanism moves against any other part, there is no friction or wear to reduce sensitivity or accuracy. The “one piece” construction of the Torsion mechanism results in a system which is much less affected by vibration than optical knife edge balances. TORBAL balances operate satisfactorily under conditions where other balances cannot be used.
The ET-1 cabinet construction is metal, finished to resist chemical attack and abrasion.
The windshield is large enough to present easy access to the pans with the assurance that air currents will have no effect on the balance’s performance. The windshield is readily removable if necessary.
Out-of-level accuracy
The change in level of a balance, which often produces changes in the zero of knife-edge balances, is not experienced with the ET-1. If the zero changes during the course of weighing, the weight result may be inaccurate. For minor changes in the level of the ET-1 balance, the zero point does not change so that if the balance is moved slightly by books, or a dessicator, it is not necessary to readjust the zero point (failure to check the zero point can happen even with skilled operators).
